SWIMMER INFO
Middlesex Summer Swim League Championship Meet
Friday, July 29, 2022
at Sun Valley
warm-ups: 2:45 - 3:15 pm
start: 4:00 pm
Sun Valley Line-Up
Swimmer entries closed Sunday and the coaches have created a line-up that thoughtfully considers swimmer abilities, while also balancing the need to fill certain spots so that the team as a whole can be competitive in the meet. This means we were unable to accommodate event requests and some participants will be "Swimming Up" in the age groupings. This is a common practice by all teams in the league. Coaches have been working with swimmers over several weeks and have not not put any swimmer in an event they are not capable of completing. If your child is nervous please reassure them that swimming the assigned events is a wonderful way to support the team and the coaches are proud of their effort and progress this summer. We aim for our meets to be a fun and supportive experience where swimmers can grow in their abilities and confidence. Championships are no different. All we ask is that each swimmer shows up with a great attitude and tries their very best. Go Sharks!
We are sharing the Sun Valley line up with you now (by swimmer, by event) so that swimmers know what to expect on meet day. We are unable to accommodate change requests based on preference. Per the league rules, swimmers who don't show up cannot be replaced. We are counting on everyone to support the team by showing up to swim their assigned events. Swimmer cancellations negatively impact the whole team. If extenuating circumstances prohibit participation please notify Coach Kristen as soon as possible.
Meet Program
An electronic meet program including all teams will be e-mailed and posted on the Sun Valley website on Thursday.
PARKING
The Sun Valley parking lot is limited to those with a Champs parking pass after 1:00 pm. If you are not given a parking pass you will need to park on Fairlawn Lane or a nearby street (Fiske, Locke, Wheeler etc.) and walk down the driveway to the pool. There will be a police officer or traffic volunteer at Fairlawn Lane to help direct traffic. Only cars with a parking pass or handicap placard will be permitted to enter the driveway. No parking is permitted along/parallel to the driveway to allow access for EMS in case of emergency.
To minimize traffic congestion please carpool if possible. Please be courteous of our neighbors and not block driveways or park on anyone’s grass.
If you live nearby please consider walking, biking, or scootering to Sun Valley. The bike rack will be available.
Thank you for your cooperation!
Who gets a parking pass?
Out of fairness we have distributed parking passes for our small lot among the six participating teams (this leaves only a handful of passes per club)
Sun Valley has chosen to prioritize parking passes for our volunteers (thank you) and others critical to the organization of the meet who may need to get in and out during the event
We allocated passes to the first four volunteers who signed up yesterday
We have a few more to give away as incentive to help us out
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Simply put, we cannot run this event without volunteers. There are many roles available from timing on the pool deck, entering race times on the computer, labeling ribbons, organizing swimmers behind the lanes, selling t-shirts and more.
Review the open slots and please consider signing up to help. We will provide training and any other info you need to feel confident and set you up for success. Many of the roles work in teams so you can have fun while helping us by coordinating with a friend, or it's a great way to meet a new friend.
We welcome anyone in the community with interest to volunteer, as well as grandparents and friends who may like to support their favorite Shark swimmer(s). Responsible teenagers encouraged to join in this effort and we will sign off on community service hours that may be required for school.
All volunteers will receive a free volunteer t-shirt! Thank you for your consideration. We can't do this without your help.
